Francis H. Daly, 87, of Rutland, passed away Wednesday evening, February 27, 2013, at Mountain View Center.

He was born in Rutland February 11, 1926, the son of Frank and Catherine (McCarthy) Daly.
Francis graduated from Christ the King School and Rutland High School class of 1944.
He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre. For one year, he was stationed at Lakehurst Naval Air Station in New Jersey.
On August 19, 1950, he married Erlene (Bartlett) Daly of Rutland.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #31 and the VFW #648. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus and Moose Club.
He was employed at the Rutland Railroad as a locomotive fireman. He was a member of the Rutland City Police Department for three years and General Electric Co. for 22 years, retiring in 1988.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bingo, playing cards, the casinos and the Red Sox. He cherished his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Erlene of Rutland; a daughter, Debrah Wilkerson of Lusby, Md.; a son, Shawn Daly and his wife Judith of Norwich, Conn., and their children, Lliam and Janelle; nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Donald, John and Anthony Daly, and by two sisters, Mary LaVene and Florence Abel.
There are no visiting hours.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 4, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ the King Church.
Officiating will be Rev. James Dodson, parochial vicar.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.
