HAMPTON, N.Y. - Frederick Myron "Buck" Wade, 80, died surrounded by his family on Aug. 30, 2012, following a long illness.

He was born May 24, 1932, in Poultney, the son of Frederick and Eva (Hutchins) Wade.

He married Daphane Hughes on horseback during a rodeo in Clarendon, Vt., on Aug.19, 1956.

He enjoyed bowling, taking Sunday drives, square dancing and vacations with his family. He especially enjoyed driving on old country back roads, just to see where they would come out.

He worked in a slate mill, was a farmer, and then worked at Rutland Plywood for 25 years, retiring in 2002. He also enjoyed driving the horses "Kit" and "Kat" for the Yorkmont Farm in Hampton, driving for sleigh rides, hay rides and parades.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Daphane Wade; two daughters, Alizona "Candi" Rogers of Hydeville, Vt., and Jody Pratt of Hampton; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a brother Maurice Wade, and a sister Mable Lincoln; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by five brothers, Peter Batise, Clifford Wade, Harold Wade, Rosco Wade, and Roger Wade, and by two sisters, Mildred Manning and Jessie Parker.

Friends may call Monday, Sept. 3, 2012, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Durfee Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services in the Poultney Cemetery.
