She was born Feb. 1, 1946, in Springfield, the daughter of Earl and Pearl (Shippy) Snide, and attended Weathersfield and Springfield schools. On Aug. 4, 1962, she married Richard Batchelder in Weathersfield. He died in 2005.
Mrs. Batchelder was employed as an aide, cook and housekeeper at Brookwood Estates Nursing Home in North Springfield for more than 20 years.
She enjoyed crossword puzzles, traveling and visiting casinos.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan Dunn of Keene, N.H., and Regina Nash of Walpole, N.H.; five siblings, Dorothy Buxton of Perkinsville, Arthur Snide of Amsden, Edward, James and Donald Snide, all of Maine; seven grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also predeceased by a daughter, Paula Dunn, in 2005 and three siblings, Bernice Ellis, Barbara McNault and Robert Snide.
The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield, followed by burial in Oakland Cemetery in Springfield and a gathering at her home in North Springfield.
