OGDEN, Utah - George Lewis Chartrand Sr., 84, died Sept. 12, 2013, in Ogden.

He was born Feb. 19, 1929, the son of John and Alberta (St. Denis) Chartrand, in Whiting, Vt.
He graduated from Brandon High School in Brandon, Vt. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
He married Jean Giles in San Antonio, Texas, on April 5, 1952.
He was a parishioner of the Holy Family Catholic Church. He was a member of the VFW and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a Red Cross Disaster volunteer.
He retired from the Defense Depot Ogden as a computer programmer, and operated an in-home barbershop for 20 years.
He built and enjoyed spending time at his cabin in the Uinta Mountains. He also enjoyed traveling, playing cards and cheering for Notre Dame.
Although he lived in Utah most of his life, his heart was always with his brothers and sisters in Vermont.
Survivors include his wife, Jean of Ogden; his children, Lewis Chartrand of Kona, Hawaii, Kathy Doxey of Ogden, and Kent Chartrand of Salt Lake City; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother and a sister.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday, Sept. 17, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1100 E. 5550 S., Ogden.
Interment was with Lindquist's Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch.
