CHITTENDEN - Joan Hill died June 4, 2016 at her home in Chittenden. She spent the last few days of her life surrounded by family and friends.
She was born in Queens, N.Y. Dec. 14, 1942, daughter of Carl J. and Mildred (Droege) Bischoff.
Joan was a 1960 graduate of Clarkstown High School in New City, New York.
She was a former resident of Baldwin, Long Island, New York and New City, New York before moving to Vermont in 1972.
Joan was formerly the President of the Chittenden Volunteer Fire Dept. Woman's Auxiliary, a Cub Scout Leader and Chair of the Barstow School Board.
She was previously general manager of Mountain Top Inn and for the past 15 years was director of membership development at the Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce.
Joan lived for her husband Dick of over 53 years, her children and grandchildren. She spent joyous time with her family and friends at her camp in Wells, ME where she also loved going to the beach.
She was an avid sports fan, especially of her beloved Boston Red Sox.
Surviving are her husband, Dick Hill of Chittenden; four sons, Rick and daughter-in-law Anne Hill of Chittenden, Rob and daughter-in-law Tomoko Hill of Huntington Beach, CA., Roger and daughter-in-law Karen Hill of Chittenden, Jim and daughter-in-law Dawn Hill of Pittsford; a brother, John and sister-in-law Ann Bischoff of McKinney, TX; a sister, Barbara Bischoff and partner Gloria English of Holland, PA; 11 grandchildren: Alicia, Evan, Connor, Erika, Emma, Emily, Abigail, Brendan, Paul, Logan and Macie.
Calling hours will be held Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.
A celebration of life will be held at The Mountain Top Inn in Chittenden on Sunday, July 24th starting at 2 p.m.
