LUDLOW - Joseph B. Beauchain, 66, passed in his sleep at his home, Tuesday, March 25, 2014, after a long, sad battle with C.O.P.D.

Born April 30, 1947, in Brattleboro, he was the son of the late Bernard and Bernadette Beauchain.

He was a graduate of B.R.H.S., class of 1965.

He worked at G.E., various automotive fields and served in the Army National Guard as a tank mechanic.

"Joe" enjoyed playing and teaching guitar and being with his family and friends. He was a man of such love, compassion and patience, and always willing to help someone or something in need. He was a treasure, a husband of gold, a father of love and a friend of laughter. He was a man that is just simply irreplaceable.

He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Maria "Rita" Beauchain; his daughters and their spouses, Tomieka MacPherson and her husband, Kevin; and April Taylor-Dunich and her husband, Ryan; and his grandchildren, Katlyn and her fiance, Cody Parker; and Joshuah MacPherson, all of Ludlow, and Ashley and Dakota Ettin of California; as well as a son, Eric Beauchain of Santa Rosa, Calif., and a daughter, Danielle Ettin of Springfield; his sisters and their husbands: Bonnie and Joe Bassett of West Rutland, and Debra and Dave Norton of Cavendish; and his brother, Charles and his wife, Julie Beauchain of Springfield; as well as many nieces and nephews.

There will be an informal potluck gathering Saturday, April 5, at the April Taylor-Dunich residence.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to: VVSA (Vermont Volunteer Services for Animals Humane Society), PO Box 100, Bridgewater, VT 05034; and to Massachusetts General Hospital for pulmonary or thyroid research, c/o Mass General Development Office,100 Cambridge Street, Suite 1310, Boston, MA 02114.
