SOUTH WALLINGFORD - Montie Henry Hart, 74, of South Wallingford, died unexpectedly Friday, March 2, 2018, at his residence.
He was born on April 23, 1943, in Dorset, the son of Dana G. and Elizabeth (West) Hart. He grew up on the family farm in Dorset.
Mr. Hart married Carol E. Baker on March 24, 1972.
He was employed driving a milk truck for Seward's Dairy, at Crosby's Grainery and then General Electric Co. for 26 years prior to his retirement in 2006.
He enjoyed playing cards and horseshoes, hunting, fishing, watching westerns, spending time with his family, working outdoors and grilling.
Mr. Hart was a former member of the Wallingford Volunteer Fire Department where he enjoyed operating the 1948 Mack Fire Truck.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Hart, of South Wallingford; three daughters Jane Hart, of Wallingford, Amy Perry and her husband, Jody, of Fayetteville, NC, and Loretta Johnson and her husband, Andy, of Brandon; six grandchildren Taren Perry, Jaime Perry, Brianna Perry, David Johnson, Heather Johnson and Jonathan Johnson; three sisters Edna Mylott, of East Dorset, Rosecile Johnson and Susan Hart, both of Bennington; a brother, Fred Hart, of Rutland; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Nadine Kelly; an infant brother, Marshall Hart; and a half-brother, Christopher Morris.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 8, 2018, at the Wallingford Aldous Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. A reception will follow at the South Wallingford Grange Hall.
Burial will be at a later date in the Danby Scottsville Cemetery.
