WELLS - Richard B. "Rick" Wilkins Sr., 63, a resident of High Chaparral Road in Wells, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2012, at Rutland Regional Medical Center, following a long illness. Rick was born in Bennington, Vermont, on September 29, 1949, the son of Francis G. and Charlene (Humphrey) Wilkins. He received his education in Granville, New York, and Manchester, Vermont, schools graduating from Burr & Burton Seminary, class of 1968. Rick worked as a builder all of his life, working for his grandfather, father and eventually as a self-employed contractor. Rick was a member of the Dorset Sportsman's Club. He had a great passion for deer hunting, fishing and his dogs (Beagles). He loved spending time at deer camp and cherished times spent with family and friends. He never missed a grandchild's birthday. He loved going on hunting trips, especially to Montana, Ontario, Canada, and Maine.

Rick is survived by his wife, Deborah Wilkins of Wells, Vermont; his father and stepmother, Francis and Ginny Wilkins of Sunderland, Vermont; his sons, Richard B. Wilkins Jr. and his wife Karen of Whitehall, New York, and Michael Wilkins and his wife Nicole of Castleton, Vermont; his sisters, Linda McDevitt of Arlington, Vermont, and Susan Gorsch of Oneonta, New York; his stepbrothers, Victor Humphrey and his wife Margaret of Alaska, Neil Humphrey and his wife Cindy of Manchester and Brian Bushee and his wife Anna and John Bushee and his wife Melissa, all of Sunderland; his stepsisters, Sandra Beattie and her husband Jeff of Sunderland and Colleen Downey of Manchester; his aunt and uncle, Marilyn and Don Humphrey of Schenectady, New York, and his uncle, Gerald Humphrey of Arlington, Vermont; his mother-in-law, Shirley Anderson, and his sister-in-law, Suzanne Harrick, both of Norwalk, Connecticut; a special aunt, Betty of Weston, Connecticut; his grandchildren, Kyle, Brady, Chloe, Shauna, Rylee, Morgan and Aden; and many special friends, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Charlene, who died in 1982; and his brother, Allan, who died in 1971.

A celebration of the life of Richard B. "Rick" Wilkins Sr. will be held Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the United Church of Christ and East Rupert in Dorset, Vermont. Rev. James H. Gray will officiate. Following cremation, Rick's ashes will be scattered at his deer camp, Gress Hollow Hunting Camp.
