LUDLOW - Robert F. Billings Sr., 86, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018, in Rutland, surrounded by family.
He was born Oct. 24, 1931, in Pawlet, the son of Anna and Gilbert Billings, and grew up in Plymouth.
He served with the National Guard, was activated in the Korean War, and then joined the U.S. Navy, serving on ships in the Mediterranean.
Mr. Billings married Shirley Wheeler in 1956.
He retired from Joy Mfg. after 25 years and then worked for East Hill Equipment and at the Coolidge State Historic Site before retiring a second time.
He was a member of Ludlow Fire Department and Ambulance, the VFW, Knights of Columbus and Church of Annunciation in Ludlow.
Survivors include his wife; four children Robert, Lonni, Tracy and Lisa; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at Cabot Funeral Home in Woodstock.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon Saturday, Sept. 8, at Church of Annunciation in Ludlow.
Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery in Ludlow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Church of Annunciation in Ludlow or Ludlow Fire Department.
