MIDDLE GRANVILE, N.Y. - Stanley J. Farrar passed. He passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, surrounded by his family and friends.

Stanley was born on April 27, 1934, in Cambridge, New York, the son of Charles and Jennie (Mullen) Farrar.

Stan grew up in Rupert, Vermont. He served with the U.S. Army for two years of active duty and 18 years in the Reserves. He was a member of the VFW.

Stanley worked most of his life for General Electric in Rutland, Vermont, retiring in 1992.

He enjoyed classic cars and often attended car shows. He also liked hunting and fishing, but nothing beat a good card game. He had a great sense of humor and could be counted on to tell a good joke. Stan was a compassionate man who was always willing to lend an ear to listen to anyone or a helping hand.

Stanley was predeceased by his parents and his wife, Esther Farrar. He is survived by his brother, Roland Farrar (Emma) of Pawlet, Vt., and his children, Dale Farrar of Wells, Vt., Martin Farrar (Lynne) of Greenwich, N.Y., Angela McGinnis of Shrewsbury, Vt., Steven Farrar of Clarendon, Vt., David Farrar (Karen) of Hudson Falls, N.Y., and Aric Farrar (Christa) of Florence, Vt., Donna Griffin, Jeffrey Loveland, Russell Loveland (Britanie), Keith Loveland (Nettie), Nicole Lurvey (Golan) and Joseph Loveland (Brenda).

He was blessed with grandchildren, Mark McGinnis, Jennifer and Leigh Ann Webster, Shaina Farrar Curley (Paul), Justin and Kacie Farrar, Michael Griffin, Kathy Metras, Jessica Bullock, Hope Loveland, Jeffrey Loveland, JR, Logan Loveland, Cordell Loveland, Brieanna Loveland, Amber Euber, Wyatt Loveland, Crystal Bickford, Keith Loveland Jr., Ellen LaComb, LeighAnn Petty, Rebecca Petty, Jonathan Jurnak, Faith Winchell, Danielle, Shawna and Joseph Loveland Jr., Scott Ricketts; as well as two great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 15, 2013, at 6 p.m. at the Robert M. King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, N.Y., with the Rev. Donald Pepper. Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in the spring.

A gathering will follow the funeral service for family and friends at the Middle Granville Firehouse.
