FAIR HAVEN - Tye James Bletz, 42, a former longtime resident of Rutland, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, upon arrival at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 1, 1970, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., the son of Donald L. and Helen N. (Hance) Bletz Sr.
He graduated from Rutland High School in 1988, and was a member of the Rutland Police Department's Cadet Program.
He was employed for 10 years by the Regional Ambulance Service as an EMT. In 1997, he became a dispatcher for the Rutland City Police and an on-call dispatcher for the Vermont State Police and the Rutland County Sheriff's Department, until he became disabled in 2012.
He was a former volunteer with the Pittsford First Response.
He enjoyed fishing and was a drummer, and a member of the band Rhythm Rockers for many years.
Survivors include two daughters, Brittany Bletz and Ashley Bletz, both of Fair Haven; his father Donald L. Bletz Sr. of West Rutland; a sister, Renee Clark of Fair Haven; a brother, Donald Bletz Jr. of South Carolina; a granddaughter; two half-sisters, Sue Howe and Pauline Guffey, both of Pennsylvania; a half-brother, Randy Bletz of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mother Helen N. Bletz on Aug. 28, 1996, and two half-brothers, Gary Bletz and Steven Bletz.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at the Aldous Funeral Home. A service will follow at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
