Allen "John" Barker, 72, of Londonderry, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012 at home. John was born on May 26, 1939, son of Prentice and Laura (Moore) Barker. He was a graduate of Chester High School in 1957.

Mr. Barker worked at Peck's Garage in Londonderry, then began working for the Shop of Ripley Swan, later known as MacDonald and Swan Construction in Londonderry where he worked for 43 years. He then worked 9 years at R.H. Adams Construction in Landgrove. He served on the Flood Brook School Board in the 70's. He was a Boy Scout in his youth and was an avid hunter, he loved baseball and rarely missed a "Boston Red Sox" game. After retirement, he enjoyed working in his own wood shop, building cabinets and furniture for family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Elizabeth "Betty" (Crossman) Barker; two daughters, Elaine Merrow and her husband Tom of Londonderry; Christine Derby of Bondville; two sons, Philip Barker and his wife Cheryl of Londonderry; and Stewart Barker and his wife Kristina of Jamaica; 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012 at 2 p.m. in the Second Congregational Church in Londonderry. Burial will be in Simonsville Cemetery in the spring.
There are no visiting hours.
