POWNAL - Nancy K. Thompson, 71, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at her residence.

She was born July 30, 1942, in Dixville, N.H., the daughter of Linnwood M. and Lila B. (Lyons) Purrington.
She received her education at Colebrook Academy in Colebrook, N.H., and later at the Putnam School of Nursing in Bennington, graduating in October, 1961.
She married Robert E. Thompson, March 11, 1962, at the Pownal Community Church. He died June 30, 2010.
She was employed for 46 years on the nursing staff at Putnam Memorial Hospital and Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington. She retired Aug. 3, 2007.
She enjoyed outdoor activities.
Survivors include two daughters, Beth Cote of Pownal, and Amy McLenithan of Cambridge, N.Y.; two grandchildren; a brother, David Purrington of Colebrook, N.H.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a sister, Lucille Purrington and a brother, Linnwood Purrington Jr.
Memorial services will be held from Four Chaplains All Faiths Chapel at the Vermont Veterans Home, Friday, Feb. 21, at 1 p.m.
Friends may call at the Vermont Veterans Home Chapel on Friday, from noon until the time of the service.
Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery in the spring.
