Cecilia Mary Oakman, 90, died Friday, April 11, 2014, at Rutland Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born March 4, 1924, in Salisbury, the daughter of William M. and Mary (Waterhouse) Edgerton.
She was employed by Rutland City schools in the cafeteria for many years, and by Tampax for 19 years until her retirement in 1986.
She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, and the Order of the Eastern Star #88 of West Rutland.
She enjoyed bird watching and earned a degree in ornithology from Cornell University. She participated in the annual count in Vermont for many years. She also enjoyed being outdoors and hiking.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Oakman of Rutland and Ronald Oakman of Proctor; a daughter, Gail Stocker of Ludlow; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ramona Milles and Julia Reddington, both of Rutland; nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, George B. Oakman, in 1969; two sisters, Virginia Morgan and Margaret Derby; and a brother, Elmer "Bud" Edgerton.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, at the Trinity Episcopal Church. Burial will be in the East Clarendon Cemetery.
There will be no public calling hours.
