ALBANY, N.Y. - Verna Farley, a devoted teacher of early childhood education, died in Albany on Monday after a brief illness. She was 65.

An expert skier, Mrs. Farley ran the Bromley Mountain Children's Ski school for years. After becoming a mother, she taught at the Shaftsbury Head Start for 20 years and, most recently, at Happy Days Daycare in Arlington.

While known for her love of gardening, birds and animals, she will be most remembered by her many nieces, nephews and family members for never forgetting a single birthday.

Mrs. Farley is survived by her loving husband, Robert, sons Robert and Liam, and mother, Mrs. Nelda Kayatta, and hundreds of her beloved students.

Visitation will take place at E.P. Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, Vt., from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 27. Memorial donations may be sent to Happy Day Daycare in Arlington, through Mahar and Son.
