ROCHESTER, N.H. / FLORENCE, Vt. - Willis "Bill" Merle Niles, 77, died Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Frisbee Memorial Hospital in Rochester, N.H.

He was born March 15, 1937, in Lebanon, N.Y. He was the son of Merle and Florence (Eaton) Niles. He had farmed in his earlier years. On Nov. 22, 1956, he married Lois Julia Ryder in Lebanon, N.Y. They made their home in Florence, Vt. Lois predeceased him on Oct. 7, 2009. He worked as a lab technician at Omya in Florence for more than 30 years. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He and his wife retired to Rochester, N.H., in 2006, to be near their son.
Surviving are three sons: William Niles of Manchester, N.H.; Richard "Rick" Niles of Rochester, N.H.; and Brian Niles of Pohenegamook, Quebec; one sister, Gay Grove of Earlville, N.Y.; and two brothers, Darwin Niles and Patrick Niles, both of Lebanon, N.Y.; five grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon. The Rev. Richard White, pastor of the Brandon Congregational Church will officiate. The graveside committal service and burial will follow in Forestdale Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2014.
