BRISTOL, Conn. - Marie Rogers, 95, of Bristol, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, July 4, 2014, at Sheriden Woods, Bristol, Conn. She was the widow of Albert R. Rogers II.

Marie was born in Vergennes, Vt., on November 5, 1918, daughter of the late Emerson and Katherine (McCabe) Little, and had also lived in Rochester, Vt.
She was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II, taught illiterate soldiers to read and was a 50-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Marie retired after 25 years as an elementary school teacher in several Vermont schools, including a couple of two-room schoolhouses.
She is survived by six of her 10 children, Pamela Parnell of Portland, Ore., Connie Rogers of San Francisco, Calif., Michael Rogers of Albuquerque, N.M., Mary Rogers of Bristol, Mark Rogers of Bristol and James Rogers of Windsor; her sister, Patricia Blais of Portland, Ore.; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her children, Albert Rogers III, Margaret Rounds, Paul Rogers and Deborah Howard.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2014, at O'Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Forestville, Conn. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in St. Peter's Cemetery, Vergennes, Vt.
