SANTA PAULA, Calif. - George Nelson Nesbitt, 76, a former resident of Tinmouth, died July 10, 2014, at his home in Santa Paula, Calif., after a long illness.

He was born Jan. 16, 1938, in Tinmouth, the son of Roy Thomas and Hazel Laura (Allen) Nesbitt.

After graduation from Wallingford High School, he enlisted in the U. S. Air Force serving during the Korean War.

He was employed with General Electric and Vermont Marble Co. for several years.

Upon relocating to California in 1974, he was employed as a long-distance truck driver.

Mr. Nesbitt was an avid hunter, including at his ranch in Colorado. He traveled to Africa and Alaska on many excursions.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon, of Santa Paula, Calif.; three daughters: Veronica Young of Palmdale, Cindy Morris of Fair Haven, Vt., and Christine Templin of Hawthorne; two sons: Roy Nesbitt of Oxnard and Lorne Nesbitt of Camarillo; a sister Anna Morris of Tinmouth; a brother, Harold Edmunds of Danby; seven grandchildren; a great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a son, Tony Welch, in 1992, and a sister, Gladys R. McClure, on July 4, 2010.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2014, in the Danby-Scottsville Cemetery.
