Elizabeth Young, 93, of Rutland, died Monday, July 28, 2014, at her home in Rutland.

She was born Jan. 18, 1921, in Tinmouth, the daughter of Truman and Eva (Budlong) Young.
Ms. Young attended school in Tinmouth and at Wallingford High School, where she graduated in 1939. She attended New England Hospital for Women and Children in Boston, graduating as a registered nurse in 1946.
She was a member of the Cadet Nurse Corps prior to enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in 1951. She attended anesthesia school at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, and was stationed in Texas, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Florida, New York City, England, Alaska and Labrador.
She received the Air Force Commendation Medal and the First Oak Leaf Cluster to the Second Commendation Medal. She retired from the Air Force as a lieutenant colonel In 1971.
Ms. Young had been a resident of Keene, N.H. before moving to Rutland in 2008.
Survivors include one sister, Theresa Mello of Bermuda; five brothers: Truman Young Jr. of Tinmouth, Hugh Young of Portland, Maine, Richard Young of Pahrump, Nev., Hadwin Young of Wallingford, and Paul Pat Young of Rutland; several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her sisters Charlotte Yeaw, Hellen Burbank, Lilian Young, Josephine Krellen, Ruth Young; also a brother, Robert Young.
There will be no calling hours.
A graveside service followed by burial with military honors will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, in the family lot in Green Hill Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Linda Kulas.
