SPRINGFIELD - Marion Meehan, 93, died on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, at the Springfield Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born Dec. 27, 1920, in Kearney, N. J., the daughter of Matthew and Goldie (Chefetz) Burns. She attended schools in New Jersey and New York.
Her family moved to Bridgeport, Conn., where she met her husband Frank G. Meehan, a Navy sailor. They were married March 6, 1945, in Bridgeport. He predeceased her on Oct. 15, 2007.
She lived most of her adult life in Stratford, Conn., moving to Vermont in 2013.
In her youth Mrs. Meehan worked as a waitress at the Liggetts Drug Store, as a photo negative retoucher, as a waitress at D.M. Reads Coffee Shop, and during World War II she was an inventory parts control monitor for General Electric.
In later years she worked as a clerk at a maternity store and as a telephone salesperson for Howlands Department Store.
She had an extensive collection of clowns and clown and circus memorabilia. She loved sharing family history.
She is survived by two daughters, Janice Izzo of Springfield, and Susan L. Kelsey of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, including niece and caregiver Marion Snuggie LeCardo.
She was predeceased by her brother, Matthew A. Burns, and her sister, Selma J. Callahan.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at the State Veterans Cemetery on Bow Lane in Middletown, Conn.
