CASTLETON - John E. Fowler, 80, died Thursday morning August 28, 2014 at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

Born June 6, 1934 in Benson the son of Frank and Roseamond (St.George) Fowler. He was a graduate of Fair Haven High School class of 1953.
John married Jean Petty on June 30, 1956 in Rutland.
He had been employed at Trinity Farms Dairy, Vermont Structural Slate Co. and Taggart Brothers Inc. for the last 30 years.
He was active in Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball, working with Bill Egan, and in later years he enjoyed making picnic tables. In 1990 John was diagnosed with throat cancer and had his larynx removed, he then worked with Doctor Ted Shattuck mentoring people who needed this surgery.
John is survived by his wife Jean of Castleton; his children, Jay Fowler of Castleton and Lori Webber and husband Robert of Andover, MA; his brother Frank Fowler and his wife Betty of Benson; his grandchildren, Chase and Jillian Webber, both of Andover, MA.; and also several nieces, nephews and cousins and his beloved cat Muffin.
He was predeceased by his parents and his two infant daughters and by his brother William Fowler.
