SPRINGFIELD - Howard R. Parry, 81, died Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Elm Wood Center in Claremont, New Hampshire.
He was born May 15, 1937, in Bartonsville, the son of Everett D. and Gladys A. (Putt) Parry.
He attended school in Bellows Falls.
Mr. Parry served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1958.
He was married to Jane E. Kendall, who predeceased him in 2000.
He worked as a carpenter, painter and mason with various local contractors, including Wiggins Construction and Beaudry Construction.
Mr. Parry enjoyed hunting, fishing, telling stories and repairing things.
Survivors include his children Sheila and Rennay Parry, both of Springfield, Randall Parry, of Chester; his siblings Theodore Parry, of Allenstown, New Hampshire, Barbara Elliot, of Deltona, Florida, Wayne Parry, of Cornish, New Hampshire, Lee Parry, of Hopkinton, New Hampshire, Richard Parry, of Springfield; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; his longtime companion and caregiver, Robin Knight, of Springfield; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by siblings Charlotte Parry in 1953, Whanitta Parry in 2015, Charlene Parry in 2017, and Levi Parry in 2018.
The graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, July 29, in New Westminster Cemetery in Westminster.
A reception will follow at Westminster East Parish on Main Street in Westminster.
Memorial contributions may be made to Springfield Meals on Wheels Program, 139 Main St., Springfield, VT 05156.
Arrangements are by Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.
