BENNINGTON - Mabel B. Davis, 87, died March 31, 2011, at the Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Jan. 31, 1924, in Catskill, N.Y., the daughter of Manley A. Layman and Beatrice M. (Sprague) Layman Whitbeck.
She received her education at Bolton Central School in Bolton Landing, Lake George, N.Y.
She was first married to Charles Brasie. Mr. Brasie died June 26, 1966. She later married Cassius L. Davis. Mr. Davis died Aug. 7, 1986.
In earlier years, she was employed at the Bennington Bell Laundry.
Mrs. Davis was a former member of the Old Stone Church in North Bennington and a member of the Missionary Alliance Church in Bennington. Her faith and family were her main interests.
Survivors include five daughters, Estelle Robinson of Bennington, Madeline Wright and Etola Mosier of Waterbury, Charlene Shewell of Arlington, and Beverly Whitman of Bennington; three stepsons, Glenn Davis of North Carolina, Steve Davis of California, and Lawrence Davis of Chester Point; two stepdaughters, Sharon and Linda Davis; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Estelle Taranto of Catskill, N.Y.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by two grandchildren, a great-granddaughter and a stepbrother, Ray Davis.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 4, from the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, with the Rev. Edwin Blue of the Missionary Alliance Church officiating.
Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Monday from noon until the time of the service.
Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery.
