FLORENCE - Joseph E. Eugair, 68, died Sunday, April 10, 2011, at his home in Florence.

He was born on April 1, 1943, in Proctor, Vt., the son of George and Erma (Brown) Eugair.

Joe lived his whole life in Florence. Growing up, he enjoyed spending his free time helping his Grandpa Brown on the family farm in Florence. He worked for 38 years at White Pigment Corp. where he made many lifetime friendships.

Joe enjoyed life and easily brought a smile and a laugh to many friends. One of his greatest joys was touring the fair circuit, from August to October, nine fairs across five states. Fair food and pick-a-pearl were the highlights of his travels. Joe loved to spend time with his grandchildren and share his knowledge of animals, farming, gardening, watching the birds and wildlife on the farm. He loved driving his tractors and four-wheelers everywhere.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Haynes Hoisington of Florence; one daughter, Lisa Adamsen and her husband Keith of Pittsford; one son, Donald Eugair of Proctor; their mother, Sylvia Eugair of Proctor; stepchildren, Cheryl Mahoney and George Hoisington, both of Middletown Springs; three sisters, Dolores Briggs of Florence, Dorothy Papineau of Rutland Town and Debbie Erickson and her husband Shawn of Florence; one brother, John Eugair of Florence; grandchildren, Matthew, Alyssa and Abigail Adamsen of Pittsford, Tyler and Dylan Manning, Amber Hoisington and Shane Doherty, all of Middletown Springs; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at 11 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Pittsford.
