BOMOSEEN - Norman Spear Moore, 84, died Friday evening, April 27, 2012, after a long illness, surrounded by his loving family.

Born June 8, 1927, in Burlington, he was the son of Lora Preston and A.H. Brown.

Norman attended schools in Burlington and Rutland area.

He was a United States Army veteran of WWII serving in Germany in 1945.

Norm worked for 37 years at Howe Richardson Scale Co. in Rutland and later worked at Hobart Service in Rutland retiring after 10 years of service.

Norm loved camping all along the East Coast but most of all, Florida. He enjoyed boating, fishing, snowmobiling, gardening, which he loved roses and peach trees. He enjoyed working in his shop when he was able and he also built his home in 1956. Norm also was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Patricia (Roucoulet) Moore of Bomoseen; also by his children, Norman W. Moore and his wife Susan of Ashaway, R.I., Dan Moore and his wife Janet of Snowhomish, Wash., Darlene LaFond and her husband John of Bomoseen and Donna Smith of Bomoseen; by his nine grandchildren, Melissa Denton and her husband Steve, Dawn Franco and her husband Anthony, Andrea Sadowski and her husband Steve, Aaron Smith and his wife Laura, Lacey Smith, Jason LaFond and his wife Janine, Justin LaFond, Lindsey Judd and her husband Daniel and Daniel Moore; by his eight great-grandchildren, Kelsey Denton, Garrett Denton, Dominic Franco, Nicholas Franco, Colby Sadowski, Brady Sadowski, Annabell Judd and Jake LaFond; by his two sisters, Shirley Dole of North Carolina and Helene Persuette of Ayer, Mass.; also by several nieces, nephews and cousins; also by his pal, Minea the cat.

He was predeceased by his parents and his siblings, Donald and Harriet.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 4, 2012, at 1 p.m. at the Ducharme Funeral Home, located at 1939 Main St., Castleton, the Rev. Henry Furman as celebrant. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Castleton.

Friends may call on Thursday, May 3, 2012, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
