Raymond F. Gallipo, 70, of Rutland, died at his home on May 3, 2012.

He was born on April 4, 1942, the son of Francis W. and Lena (Moscatello) Gallipo.

Ray graduated from Mount Saint Joseph Academy in 1961.

He married Dale A. Stange on November 22, 1988.

Ray was a Rutland City Firefighter for 37 years until his retirement in 1998, and co-owner with his wife of Gallipo Logo-Imprints.

He served in the U.S. Navy.

Ray was a member of Firefighters for Christ, Rutland City GOP, and The Scarlet and Freedom Knights Drum and Bugle Corps.

He was an avid runner.

Survivors include his wife Dale Gallipo; four daughters, Dayna and husband Owen Astbury (grandchildren Jacob, Emma, Ezra, Ora, Jed) of Bridgewater, VT; Renee and husband Kevin Frederick (grandchildren Addie, Andrew, Adam) of Baldwinsville, N.Y.; Kristin and husband Darrin Meyler (grandchildren Shannon and Shane) of Wall, N.J.; and Christine and husband Spain Southard (grandchildren Brent, Troy, Elizabeth) of Noble, OK; a brother Jay Gallipo and wife Linda of Gilbert, AZ; a sister Carolyn Gillam of Rutland; and nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother and father, and a sister Joan Alger.

A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2012, at 3 p.m. at the Alliance Community Fellowship in the Howe Center.
