NORTH BENNINGTON - Michael J. Cavalluzzi, 83, died May 14, 2012, at Bennington Health and Rehabilitation, following a brief illness.

Born in Flushing, N.Y., June 12, 1928, he was the son of Carmine and Mary (Orsillo) Cavalluzzi, and received his education locally.
He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War where he achieved the rank of master sergeant and earned two Bronze Stars.
For many years, Mr. Cavalluzzi was employed as an operating engineer by various construction firms in the Flushing area and was a member of the Operating Engineers Union.
An avid football fan, he played quarterback for the Flushing Eagles semi-pro team.
Survivors include five daughters, Anne Jorgensen, Michele Cavalluzzi, both of North Bennington, Barbara Higgins, Eileen and Jean Cavalluzzi, all of Bennington; four grandchildren; two sisters, Belinda DeFilippis of Syosset, N.Y., and Mary Ann Cavalluzzi of Bennington; a niece and nephew.
He was predeceased by a sister, Doris Smith.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Burial will be in St. Johns Cemetery, North Bennington.
