Domingos Joaquim Obituary
He was born June 17, 1948, in Ludlow, Mass., the son of Francisco and Mary Louise (Matias) Joaquim.
Mr. Joaquim graduated from the Ludlow (Mass.) High School.
He had been employed by the Smith and Wesson Co., the Milton Bradley toy company and for many years was self-employed as a gun engraver.
Mr. Joaquim relocated from Massachusetts in 2004 to Hampton, N.Y., and then in April to Fair Haven.
He enjoyed karaoke, friends, attending Native American powwows and loved art, especially carving. He carved and donated the wooden Bigfoot statue for the town of Whitehall.
Mr. Joaquim married Deborah Phillips on Aug. 6, 2005, and they were together for 17 years.
Survivors include his wife, of Fair Haven; two daughters, Peggy Germain, of Whitehall, and April Higney; three sons, Richard Garfield, Emerson Garfield and Damon Joaquim; a sister, Anna Joaquim, of Flagstaff, Ariz.; four brothers, Joey Joaquim, of Florida, Manny Joaquim, of Chicopee, Mass., Alfred Joaquim, of Palmer, Mass., and Antonio Joaquim, of Granby, Mass.; 13 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. Monday, May 21, at the Durfee Funeral Home, 119 N. Main St., Fair Haven.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, at the Durfee Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Fair Haven.
