George S. Potter, 82, died Nov. 6, 2012, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Newark, Feb. 13, 1930, son of Ellis A. and Margaret (Collins) Potter.

Mr. Potter moved to Rutland from Keene, N.H., in 1968.

George was a lineman for Seaward Construction Co. of Kittery, Maine. He was also employed in concrete construction by Rutland Foundations, Pyramid Enterprises and Rutland Group.

Mr. Potter was a U.S. Army veteran.

He was a member of VFW, Loyal Order of Moose, SAL Auxiliary of Rutland Post 31.

George enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting, fishing and cards.

Surviving are his wife, Jennie (Cameron) Potter of Rutland; son, Todd Potter and wife Lisa of Columbia, N.H., and their children, Ashley and Hannah; daughter, Kim Fay of Rockford, Ill., and her children, Ariel, Robert, George, John and Sarah; brother, Elmer "Doc" Potter of Pittsford; sister, Sandra Hogaboom of St. Albans.

He was predeceased by siblings, Durwood Potter, Ellis Potter Jr., William Potter, Eleanor Chase and Eva Hennessey.

There are no services planned at this time.

A graveside service will be held at a later date in Evergreen Cemetery in Rutland.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Clifford Funeral Home.
