CHESTER - James L. Krieger, M.D., 87, of Smokeshire Valley in Chester, Vt., died December 29, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his family. Jim was born in New York City to Irwin and Celia who predeceased him, as did his brother, Arthur.

He graduated from St. Lawrence University with the Naval V-12 program and from the Long Island College of Medicine. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean conflict. He was a board-certified radiologist. In 1963, with three other radiologists, he founded the Jefferson X-Ray Group in Hartford, Conn., now the largest radiological group in the state. He maintained lifelong interests in golf and photography and had been an avid skier.

Jim is survived by Eleanor, his wife of 61 years; and seven children, John (Kathy) Krieger of Danbury, Conn., Robert Krieger of Newington, Conn., Marion (Mark) Diunizio of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Paul (Sue) Krieger of Oak Hill, Va., Nancy (Gordon) Black of Lebanon, N.H., Barbara (George) Ronan of Gloucester, Va., Elizabeth (Joe) Regele of Garrison, N.Y.; as well as 11 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

A time of visitation will be at Adams Funeral Home on Saturday, January 5, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Jim will be interred in Smokeshire Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
