BENNINGTON - Henry H. Chalifoux, 79, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, from injuries sustained in a pedestrian accident near his home.

Born in North Adams, Mass., June 5, 1933, he was the son of Henry F. and Ora (Sawyer) Chalifoux.

He was a 1951 graduate of Drury High School in North Adams.

Mr. Chalifoux was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean conflict, serving from 1951 to 1955.

In earlier years, he was employed as a draftsman at General Electric Co. in Pittsfield, Mass., and later worked at Warren Wire.

He married Dolores (Hoag) Coulter in Bennington, Jan. 24, 1971. After his graduation in 1975 from cosmetology school in Rutland, they operated Hair Fashions by Dolores for three years and then the Hairport for 18 years, as well as the Academy of Cosmetology.

Mr. Chalifoux enjoyed golf and fishing.

Survivors include his wife of North Bennington; two children, Cheryl Harrington of Bennington and David Chalifoux of Adams, Mass.; six stepchildren, Leia Sharpe of Eagle Bridge, N.Y., Harry Coulter, Alice Shaw, both of Bennington, Nadine Drake of Hoosick Falls, N.Y., Scott Coulter of North Bennington and Kelly Coulter of Pownal; 23 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by four sisters and a brother.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, at Green Mountain Christian Center, 440 Main St. in Bennington, where a reception will follow. Pastor John Goyette will officiate.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home.

Private burial will be in Grandview Cemetery in North Bennington.
