PERKINSVILLE - David A. Barrows, 70, died Friday, March 1, 2013, after a long illness.

He was born Oct. 21, 1942, in Danville, the son of Cecil and Virginia (Austin) Barrows Raymond.
After serving four years in the U.S. Air Force, he married Naomi J. Rabtoy Jan. 4, 1963.
Mr. Barrows retired after 40 years as a machinist with Fellows Gear Shaper in North Springfield.
At age 60, he returned to school and earned his diploma from Springfield High School, graduating with four of his grandchildren in 2002.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and riding his scooter.
Survivors include his wife; four children, Diana Gould, Heidi Stillings, both of Springfield, William Barrows of Cavendish and Susan Papineau of Perkinsville; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; eight siblings, Frank, Fred, Thomas, Mark and Patty Raymond, Brenda Paquin, Doreen Blaisdell and Marilyn O'Keefe; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Mr. Barrows was predeceased by a sister, Judith Taylor.
A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at Springfield Assembly of God, 269 River St.
