WEST RUTLAND - Ralph Kenneth Williams, 76, of West Rutland died Thursday, May 2, 2013, at his residence.

He was born July 12, 1936, in Rutland, the son of Fred and Ruth (Anderson) Williams.

Mr. Williams graduated from West Rutland High School and Castleton Teachers College.

He taught for a few years in Mineville, N.Y., prior to becoming employed by the Tuttle Law Print, where he worked for the last 52 years.

Mr. Williams was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, where he enjoyed singing solo and in the choir.

He enjoyed watching local sporting events, was an avid Red Sox fan, and loved fishing.

Mr. Williams enjoyed bus trips, square dancing, playing Santa Claus at Christmas time, gardening, going to concerts and the Paramount Theatre.

He was a three-time Vermont State Chess Champion.

Mr. Williams enjoyed being part of the Good Time Singers.

He was a member for many years of the Rutland County Farmers Market and the Vermont Farmers Market, where he served as treasurer and sold produce and baked goods.

Survivors include his sister Shirley Wilson of Greenwich, N.Y.; five nieces, Karen Rudnicki, Kathy Ley, Sharon Hill, Lisa LaChapelle and Bettina Thorn; five nephews, Ron Williams, Randy Eddy, Darryl Eddy, Gardner Eddy and David Earle; and several great-nieces and nephews including Rebecca Rudnicki, Amanda Ley and Courtney Ley, an aunt and uncle Hildur and Joseph Lemmo, and several cousins.

He was predeceased by a sister Joan Earle in 1968, a brother George F. Williams in 1987, and a nephew Duane Eddy.

Friends may call on Sunday, May 5, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Aldous Funeral Home, 44 North Main Street, Rutland.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 6, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the East Clarendon Cemetery.
