BENNINGTON - Duane E. Harrington, 83, died Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, at Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington.

Born in Arlington May 25, 1930, he was the son of Richard and Bernice (Sharkey) Harrington and received his education in local schools.

He served in the U.S. Army 45th Infantry Division during the Korean War, including on the front lines when the war ended.

Mr. Harrington married Patricia Groesbeck Feb. 20, 1960, in Bennington.

In earlier years, he was employed as parts manager at the Bill Hogan and Hand Chevrolet dealerships in Bennington and Manchester. He later worked at Bennington Display and for several years at Bijur Lubricating until he retired.

He was a life member of VFW Post 1332 in Bennington.

Mr. Harrington was an avid fan of stock car racing, trips to Lebanon Valley Speedway, and watching NASCAR.

Survivors include his wife and two sons, Duane and Wayne Harrington, all of Bennington; two daughters, Debra Adams of Mississippi and Beth Moffitt of Shaftsbury; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Harrington of Bennington and Philip Harrington of Manchester; a sister, Avis Archibald of North Bennington; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by a brother, Richard Harrington.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home where friends may call from noon prior to the service officiated by the Rev. Robin Greene.

Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
