WEST HAVEN - Richard W. Ellis, 62, a life-long resident of West Haven, died Saturday morning, December 22, 2013, at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center following a brief illness.

He was born October 25, 1951, in Middlebury, the son of William and Audrey (Brown) Ellis.

Mr. Ellis graduated from Fair Haven High School in 1969.

He married Kerry Crossman on May 1, 1976.

Mr. Ellis served with the Vermont National Guard from 1970 to 1976.

He drove milk truck for several years and had been employed by Coopers Farm Equipment, Rutland Plywood, Rutland Regional Medical Center and the Vermont Structural Slate Company, prior to establishing a lawn mowing and garage business.

Mr. Ellis liked to watch NASCAR.

Survivors include his wife, Kerry Ellis of West Haven; a daughter, Jennifer St. Peter and her husband, Eric of Providence, RI; two sons, Kyle Ellis and his wife, Suzen of West Haven, and Kevin Ellis and his wife, Amy of Fair Haven; his parents of Fair Haven; four sisters, Linda Arnold and her husband, Gary of West Haven, Kathy Washburn and her husband, Mark of Benson, Laurie Lussier and her husband, Yogi of Shoreham, and Lisa Ellis of Fair Haven; a brother, Robert Ellis and his wife, Darlene of West Haven; two grandchildren, John and Tyler Ellis; and three step-grandchildren, Jessica, Marissa and Josh Wood; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held Friday, January 3, 2014, at 6 p.m. at the Durfee Funeral home, 119 North Main St., Fair Haven. Burial will be at a later date in the Center Cemetery in West Haven.
