Laurie Stackhouse Obituary

Laurie Beth passed away August 10, 2015 from complications from Multiple Sclerosis. She was born in Berkeley, California on October 15, 1945 to Lawrence and Bettie Buonocore. She was raised in Medford, Oregon. Laurie Beth met her husband Robert "Bob" F. Stackhouse, when both were studying abroad in 1965. They married in Medford, Oregon on December 30, 1967 and moved to Sacramento in 1970. Laurie Beth lost her husband to cancer in 2008. Laurie Beth received her BA from Sacramento State in Social Work. Laurie Beth was a musician who enjoyed playing the piano, oboe, and many other instruments. She was also an avid water skier when she was younger, spending many hours skiing in Oregon on the Lake of the Woods. One of Laurie Beth and Bob's favorite annual pastimes was to attend the Sacramento Jazz Festival, which they attended nearly every Memorial Day weekend for over 20 years. Laurie Beth enjoyed spending time with family and friends in the community, reading, and listening to music. For over 45 years she battled Multiple Sclerosis and was an inspiration to all who knew her for her courage, bravery, sense of humor and for living her life as fully as possible. Laurie Beth is survived by her two children, Alyssa Compton and Rob Stackhouse, four grandchildren, Lindsey Grimes, Max Grimes, Jocelyn Stackhouse, and Carson Stackhouse, siblings Carol Cross, Richard Buonocore, Madelyn Gordon, and Alecia Elvstad. There will be a private ceremony for family and friends in the near future. Friends and family wishing to remember Laurie Beth are welcome to make a contribution in her name to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, California Musical Theatre or a charity of their choice.
