Earl BERRY Obituary

March 19, 1919 - Jan. 13, 2016 Our beloved patriarch of our Berry clan passed away peace-fully at home at the age of 96. Tommie, aka T, T Berry, Curley, and Kappa was born in Branson, MO to Ralph and Lela Berry. He was the 2nd of their 11 children. A very prod WWII Veteran, he served with the 383rd Infantry in the Pacific and the Battle of Suipan, receiving numerous medals. He returned home to Sacramento after the war and went to work for Campbell soup, retiring after 31 years. Tommie loved dogs, to be outdoors tending to his vegetable garden, fishing, playing Keno in Tahoe/Reno, the slots at Thunder Valley, Solitaire, and his family. Predeceased by his parents, 5 brothers, 2 sisters, first wife Irene, second wife Juanita, daughter Patsy, son Stanley, and grandson Brandon. He is survived by his daughters Carolyn and Elizabeth with whom he lived for the last 10 years. We are also so very thankful to his nephew Mike for the love and devotion Mike provided to T. Burial will be at 10221 Jackson Highway, Sac. Ca. 95827, Camellia Lawn Cemetery on Thurs. January 21, 2016 at 12pm. A reception will be held immediately after at the AM Vets Post #1 at 7215 Lindale Drive, Sacramento, 95828. In lieu of flowers, provide a donation to the charity of your choice.

For many years whenever Capaw(Grandpa) spoke of his age instead of telling us he was "___ years old", he would say "I'm 96 years young". He often followed with saying "I'm going to live to be 100 or die trying."

Capaw demonstrated that a man's strength wasnt diminished by exhibiting kindness, humor and compassion, and duty to his family.
For many people, the best time they can have is to be with their Grandpa. I am so fortunate for the time spent with my Capaw throughout my life. He told me of his childhood in Missouri, about the love of fishing the Berry men had, they were considered to be the best fishermen in Branson. He plowed fields behind a mule on the family farm. During the depression he worked for the WPA, before serving in WWII.
He instilled in his family the importance of ethics, loyalty, and love. I miss him but I'm happy he is with family in heaven.

So very sorry. We didn't have opportunity to know our Uncle Tommy, but we do love all our Berry family. May God comfort and keep you all, through this difficult journey and know that sister, Minnie Berry's family is keeping you in their prayers. God bless.

My sincere condolences to your family. May God "who comforts us in all our trials" (2 Cor 1:4) comfort you and your family at such a difficult time. I know God will help you to endure because he cares for you ( 1Peter 5 :7).
