Peter Pankratz Obituary

Passed away peacefully at home after extended illness on November 19, 2012 at the age of 76. Born on April 4, 1936 to Ethel Mae, and Erwin B. Pankratz in Rockford, IL. He was raised and graduated high school in Houghton, MI in 1953. He proudly served 8 years in the US Naval Reserve with 2 years active duty. After active duty he attended art school in Milwaukee, WI. Upon graduation moved to Sacramento and secured employment with Aerojet as a draftsman. In 1965 he joined the staff at UC Davis as a draftsman and served that institution for 21 years at the Ag Engineering, and Land Air Water Resources departments before retirement. He held and fostered a lifetime love for the hobby of plastic scale modeling with a concentration on the age of propeller driven aircraft, but also included automobiles, and HO scale trains and structures. He was since 1974 a Nichiren Buddhist by faith and belonged to the SGI-USA Nichiren Buddhist organization, and dedicated student of its tenets. He was a true believer who openly shared the faith he felt gave him great spiritual strength and inner peace. He is survived and deeply missed by his loving son, John. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 1st, 2012 from Noon until 3pm in Room #10 at the Sierra 2 Community Center, 2791 24th St, Sacramento, CA 95818.
