William Kammerer Obituary

William "Bill" H. Kammerer Sr. was born Aug. 24, 1928, in Santa Cruz, Calif., to Carl and Louise Kammerer. He passed away Dec. 18, 2012. He leaves his wife of 32 years, Peggy; 11 children by his first wife, Rosemary: William Jr., Patricia, Robert, Mary, Kathleen, Diane, Timothy, John, Eileen, James and Debbie; and step-daughter, Bobby from his second wife, Peggy. He had 24 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind three sisters: Phyllis, Vivian and Carolyn. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ernest; his parents; and first his wife. Bill grew up in Watsonville, San Jose and San Francisco. He was a graduate of Mission High School, class of 1946. In the U.S. Army in 1946, 1947 and 1948, he was a member of the 1st Cavalry Division, 8th Regiment, F Troop, in occupied Japan, where he witnessed the war crimes trials. He received a World War II Victory Medal and Japan Occupation Medal. He graduated from the University of San Francisco in 1955 and joined Sears Roebuck & Co. as a trainee that same year. He held several administrative jobs and worked in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Ventura, Stockton, Sacramento, Visalia and back to San Francisco, where he retired in 1989. Bill loved the game of golf and belonged to the Cameron Park Country Club as well as the Elks, SIRs, USF Alumni and American Legion. He served as president of the Pacific Senior Golf Association and spent many years on their board of directors. You are invited to his vigil service on Thursday, Dec. 27, at 7 p.m., and the funeral mass at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (3111 Tierra de Dios Dr., El Dorado Hills) on Friday, Dec. 28, at 11 a.m., followed by a reception in the church hall. The family wishes that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to Holy Trinity Church or Snow Line Hospice.
