Michael Hurrianko Obituary

Michael Hurrianko, a longtime Carmichael resident, died January 4, 2012, surrounded by loved ones. He was 94. Mr. Hurrianko was born in Monessen, Pennsylvania, March 7, 1918. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia Hurrianko, daughters Jeannie McLaughlin and Joyce Haskell; sons Michael R. Hurrianko and Tim Hurrianko; and grandchildren Nicole Wright, Brandon McLaughlin, Trevor Haskell, Tyler Haskell and Dylan Hurrianko; he was predeceased by his granddaughter, Heather Haskell. He was a World War II veteran, decorated by General George S. Patton for his unit's supporting role in the European theater. After World War II he relocated to California, where he ended his career working for the Army Depot as a gyroscopic technician. He was an avid handyman and spent his 30-plus retired years reading, and repairing anything and everything. "He will be greatly missed," said his son Michael R. Hurrianko, "he was very generous to his family." Mr. Hurrianko will be laid to rest with military honors, Friday, January 18, 2012, at 12:30 p.m. at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, Dixon, California. Donations can be made the Eskaton Foundation, 5105 Manzanita Avenue, Carmichael CA, 95608, to be put toward activities.
