Alfred Anthony Franceschi passed away October 29, 2012 at the Vacaville Convalescent and Rehab Center. He was 100 years old. He was a native Californian born in San Francisco on December 8, 1911. He attended Lick Wilmerding School and studied art and fine craftsmanship. Alfred was a WWII veteran and served as a TEC Sargeant in the 11th Airborne Para Glider Division. He saw action in much of the South Pacific and was discharged in March 1946. He worked many years for a company that built custom design displays for conventions and businesses. He worked in San Francisco and in Oakland and also lived in Oakland with his first wife Isabel and daughter Kathy. Isabel died in 1987 and Kathy in 1989. In 1988 Al moved to Carmichael and married Margot Franceschi after the death of her husband, his brother Raymond Franceschi. Al resided in Carmichael until 2007, at which time he and Margot moved to assisted living in Vacaville to be near family. Margot died in 2009. Al's failing health necessitated his being moved to the Vacaville Convalescent Hospital. He was a member of the Carmichael Elks Lodge and life member of the International Painters and Allied trades organization. His hobbies included woodworking, golfing, painting with water colors, ballroom dancing and travel. He is survived by niece Joan Rushford and her husband Ronald of Vacaville and by nephew Ronald Franceschi and his wife Sherry. He is also survived by nieces Linda Morse Robertson, Maryanne Ludlow, Susan Young and Lisa Schnaidt.
