Floyd PERCY Obituary

PERCY, Jr., Floyd F.
Age 76, passed away on July 21, 2010, in Roseville, Calif. He was born in Grinnell, Iowa, graduated from Bondurant High School in 1952, and received his Mechanical Engineering degree from Iowa State University in 1956. After teaching thermodynamics at ISU, he worked for Grand Central Rocket Co. (later Lockheed) in California. That led to his working on the Strategic Weapons System with the Air Research and Development Command in Washington D.C. through the U.S. Air Force. In 1962 he returned to Lockheed, until moving his growing family back to Marshalltown, Iowa, in 1967. He worked for Lennox and then Fisher Controls for 25 years, then retired in 1996 and moved to Roseville, Calif. Throughout his life he loved farming and invented a variety of farming machinery devices. A private pilot, he also treasured flying his small aircraft. His brother Dean Percy and sister Norma Bothe preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife Myriam Duhem-Percy; daughter Katherine ''Kitt'' Percy, twin sons Lt. Col. Robert (Julie) Percy, and Richard (Mindy) Percy, and daughter Jean (Dan) Percy Sweet; Myriam's children Alejandro, Rafael, and Myriam Ruiz de la Cuesta-Duhem; 11 grandchildren; and sister-in-law Janet Percy. A remembrance service will be held on Wednesday, August 4, at 12:15 p.m., at Pleasant Grove Community Church in Roseville. A memorial service and interment will be held in Des Moines, Iowa, on Wednesday, August 11. Memorials may be directed to Bondurant High School.
