John LENZIE Obituary

LENZIE, John Steven

John Steven Lenzie was anything but an ordinary guy. He was a free-spirit who lived his 59 years to the fullest. John was born February 10, 1954 in Lodi, CA to Helyne & Ted Lenzie Sr. He was full of life from the beginning, creating harmless mischief wherever he ventured. One of John's early adventures began when he followed in his father and brother Jim's footsteps & joined the Navy. He ended his career working at Huhtamaki Inc. in Sacramento, CA. John was said to have 9-lives. His 8th life ended to a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, July 7, 2013. His 9th life will be spent playing baseball on Heaven's team.

From an early age, John loved baseball. He was a pitcher who played hardball like a pro & was an avid SF Giants fan. He was a long time member of the NABA, where he made many lifetime friends. He also loved golf, bowling, fishing, riding his Harley, & spending time in Morro Bay, CA. But most of all, John loved his family. He loved joining with family for holidays to share good food and good times. John's sense of humor was endless & he never met a stranger who he didn't like. And likewise, 'everyone loved John.'

John is survived by his two loving daughters Dawn Marie Hoffman (Roy) of Oregon & Melinda Moad Martinez (David) of Elk Grove, CA; and three grandchildren, Tyler Hoffman of Oregon & Athena & Astrea Martinez of Elk Grove, CA. John is also survived by his parents Helyne & Ted, & siblings Linda Oyas (Bob), Jim Nix (Pat), Ted Lenzie Jr (Sheryl), & Teresa Lenzie-Forster (Marc). Also left behind are cousins Bobby, Sharon, Kiki, Ted & Voula; nieces & nephews include Jim, Rich, Brian, Heidi, & Jaimee; many good friends, including Lori, Susan, Chuck & Bob, will never forget the fun times spent with John. Uncle Jim, Aunt Christine & Aunt Connie will always remember the smiles John brought to their faces. JD, John's corgi puppy (named after John's favorite drink), will always remember his daddy.

For all that knew John, who loved him & will miss him, there will be a Memorial followed by a 'Celebration of Life' on Saturday, July 20, 2013, at the Elk Grove Funeral Chapel located at 9101 Elk Grove Blvd. in Elk Grove, CA, beginning at 1PM. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in the name of John Lenzie to the Snowline Hospice, 6520 Pleasant Valley Road, Diamond Springs, CA 95619.

Hello my little John Bro,
I think about you every day and miss you so much, but for the past few days I have not been able to hold back the tears. Last year at this time, you were going through so much pain. When I think about it I hurt with you. I love you so much and can't wait to see you again. Love you, Big Sis

John

Today is your first birthday without you. I miss you so much. Last year you spent your birthday in the hospital with your family. You were about really to go home and we celebrated your return to a somewhat normal life. In no time you were playing ball and fishing in your new boat. Who knew we had so little time left together. I miss you so very much and love you. I hope you are with family and friends today celebrating your 60th birthday. Know this my brother, you are in our hearts and minds today and every day. Happy Birthday

I shed tears as I write this knowing I will not see you in this life, but I smile, because I will see you again, I look at the stars and wonder which one is you, but whenever I see a shooting star, I know it will be you, riding your Harley or running to beat an out at home plate. Your Dad and I think of you often, we laugh and cry over happy memories, we miss you and love you so much, you are forever with us.

Dad, we had your memorial yesterday and it has become a little more real that you are no longer here with us. I think about you daily and I love you so much. No matter all that we've been through you have always been there for me and my family. Your grand daughters see your pictures and say papa John, they didn't get much time with you but you always made it special for them. Dad word cant express how much I miss you, I know I will see you in heaven one day so if I cry it will be tears of happiness thinking of all our memories and tears of joy cause you are in a better place with no pain nor sorrow. I love you dad you are forever in my heart and thoughts, until we meet again.

Brother John, I wish I had a chance to know you better. We didn't get many opportunities to hang out and talk, but when we did , we always had a good time. I'll get to know you better now only through the memories of your loving family and friends. We all miss you, John. Your brother, Marc

God's speed to my big brother John. May his spirit mingle with the smells of fresh cut grass, cracks of the bats, and days of four for four. He's crossed the Jordan and in a better place now. I will miss you big brother.

I had the honor of playing baseball with and against John over the years and always enjoyed his enthusiasm and competitive spirit. His story telling and outgoing personality was epic. John was a great teammate who loved the game and gave it his all every time he walked onto the field. His courage facing his illness these last few months was a great inspiration to me. May you pitch a perfect game your first time out in heaven my friend! My deepest sympathy to the Lenzie family.
