Paul Plesha Obituary

Plesha, Paul E. born in Sacramento, June 18, 1920, passed away peacefully with the care and comfort of all of his family by his side, on January 16, 2012. Preceded in death by parents Tom and Frances Plesha, his brother Victor, his loving wife Theresa and beloved sons Tom and George. Survived by his daughter, Paula Plesha, partner Laura Spengeman and many nieces and nephews. A member of the "Greatest Generation" who proudly served in World War II in the Aleutian Islands, Paul was a recipient of the Bronze star. He was exalted ruler BPOE Elks Club, Sacramento. Graduate of Sacramento High School, class of '39, Paul was the "Yell leader" of the Cheer squad and the class clown. The world was his stage and there was no better MC or singer of "Red Sails in the Sunset". He enjoyed traveling to Sicily to reconnect with his heritage. Faced with adversity, he provided leadership, courage, compassion, humor and turned difficulties into positive life experiences. He was instrumental in instituting services for his disabled sons. Paul was a devoted husband, father, friend, a creator of solutions, a caregiver and comforter. Leading by example, he made us all better people. This is his greatest legacy. Paula dear, no one does what you have done without love, every moment you have shared with your dad (and) mom will be remembered always. Your dad certainly celebrated life with a smile what a blessing his memory will be for you and Laura. We offer our sincere sympathy because this is a sad time for us all but the memories do bring that smile, he was special. Lovingly, Terri and Joe Guidera

With sympathy to the Plesha family. I met Mr. Plesha over 30 years ago as a young teller at Bank of America. He was always a jovial and pleasant customer, and was appreciated very much.

Paula, Dad and I are saddened by the loss of your father. He was a wonderful man. With all the adversity he faced in his life he always managed a smile,or a joke. I know I will miss his wit and smile. He really was an amazing man, and human being. Many men would have crumbled under similar circumstances. He will be missed dearly. He will be in our hearts forever. Thoughts and prayers for you and the rest of the Plesha family.

My condolences to Paul's family,
I remember Paul very well as one of his colleagues at American River College. We attended many meetings together and he always had something funny to say. He was responsible for us to get to use the Dante Club for our parties. I am sorry we lost touch in the last few years.
