Sherri KEIL Obituary

KEIL, Sherri Lynn

On Saturday March 29th, Sherri passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Carmichael.

Sherri singularly devoted her time on this earth to enriching the lives of family, friends (and strangers) in any way that she was capable. Sherri was an extraordinary wife and mother who loved nothing more than to be surrounded by the people she loved; eating, drinking and indulging in their company.

Sherri combined her caring and selfless nature with being the toughest, most determined woman we've ever known. At the age of 40 (!), she began running marathons and raising donations as a member of Team in Training on behalf of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. She tirelessly worked with organizations and people to brighten the lives of those less fortunate. After her knees gave out, she transitioned to providing care to the seniors of Carmichael - helping them with physical therapy at California Family Fitness or even just serving them a Bloody Mary at Lido Cafe. Sherri loved her "old" people.

Sherri is survived by her husband, Dick; sons, Aaron and Spike; daughter, Jenna; sister, Karen; niece, Jessica; two remarkable daughter-in-laws; an incalculable number of friends and a legion of people whose lives she touched on a daily basis.

A celebration of her life will be held at her home in Carmichael on Saturday, April 5th from 2-5pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Dear Dick and family
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your wife/mom. She was a neighbor for the past 15 years. We spoke mostly on walks and enjoyed talking about the dogs. I also saw her at the Lido. Her presence is so missed.

I am so grateful to have known Sherri. I am thankful for all the birthdays and other occasions she made special for my family and for me. In a lifetime, very rarely do we have the opportunity to meet a truly exceptional person. Sherri was one of those people. Sherrie was simply a marvelous human being. My condolences to Sherri's family. I will always see her at Lido's and at the gym.

Of all the people I've know through the years, you were the brightest, sweetest and most caring. Go with God my friend I will miss you so so much.

April 8, 2014

Dear Keil family, You won't know me, but I was Sherrie's hygienist at Dr. Carson's office for 4 years in the early 80's. She and I clicked immediately and it was hard getting any work done as I loved talking to her and her wonderful spirit. First thing I noticed is how wonderful she 'smelled'!! Crazy eh? She brought me a bottle of her Rain musk oil she bought from Pike's market in SEattle and I have been ordering it ever since. It always makes me think of her. We also both had daughter's named Jenna. Although I had lost touch with her after leaving the practice I never forgot her and was so sad to see the news in the paper. She was a wonderful lady and feel so lucky to have had her in my life for the short time I did. My deepest sympathy to the entire family as I can't imagine the void she left behind.

I can't quite believe that Sherri is gone. I will never forget raising money for Team in Training and running the Midnight Sun marathon in Alaska with her. Sherri was gifted at connecting with people and I couldn't have reached my goal without her. Dick and family we are so saddened by the news and our deepest sympathy accompanies your loss

Dear Sherri,In your own words, what an "amazing human" you were. A true gift to all. You welcomed my family to the "hood" with open arms, made buying the Goot house and absolute joy. When my father passed you were there, when my kitty passed you helped me find another and became Harleys God mother. You invited me to join the Divas, helped me when I remodeled your old house, and the list goes on and on. The sparkle in your eyes and the love in your heart was contagious. I am so blessed to have been able to call you my friend. Dick, Arron, Spike, & Jenna, my deepest sympathy for your loss , I loved and admired her dearly.

Oh Sherri - Where to begin? So many wonderful times together; long talks, wine, laughing, wine, Silpada, wine, more laughing, wine, crying, loving, kids, life, our knees, your foot, more Silpada jewelry, the dogs, gardening, cooking, eating eating eating, wine, husbands, hanging out, doing nothing, doing everything, dear friends. I cannot fathom the enormity of losing you - for any of us; especially your family... You were larger than life, an indomitable giving spirit and a positive energy that filled us all up to overflowing. You were an angel among us and now you are free - soaring, loving on everyone in heaven. Your girls will miss your amazing bloody Mary's... but most of all you, in our lives, the brightest light any of us knew here on Earth. I love you dear friend. Brave, strong, fierce, determined, gorgeous (inside and out), and the most caring human I've ever known. Now it is your turn to be cared for; I know you are chatting up God right now and He is absolutely delighted!! Oh Sherri - I will miss you terribly - already.
