David Leland Bennett

1942 - 2012
David was born in San Francisco in 1942. He passed away listening to live harp music on December 31, 2012 in Roseville, CA. He was 70. David was preceded in death by mother Bette and father Del A. Bennett. He is survived by wife Carolyn, daughter Mela T. Bennett, daughter Kendra Hyland, son-in-law Chris Hyland, granddaughter Sophie Hyland, sister Pamela Phipps and brother Mark Bennett. David lived with cerebral palsy but never saw it as a handicap or an excuse to not become involved in life. At San Mateo HS, David excelled as a gymnast on the rings, and after graduating, he studied art at San Jose State University, where he met Carolyn. David and Carolyn married in 1967 and lived in Ojai, CA. They moved to Lincoln, CA in 1977, where they raised a family. David and Carolyn relocated to Rocklin, CA in 2004. David was a gifted furniture maker, collected books and marbles, raised many tropical fish, and loved classical music. He will be remembered for his generous nature, his willingness to share his opinion of the world and his unique sense of humor.

Private services will be held. Please consider a donation of blood and platelets to honor David, as many blood donations kept David alive during his fight with leukemia. His wife, Carolyn had kidney failure in 2011 and is looking for a live kidney donor. Please refer to:
