Frederick W. Schnaars

Fred, 85 years, of Citrus Heights passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, January 6th, 2014. Born to Frederick and Florence Schnaars in Brooklyn, New York on September 3rd, 1928. Upon completion of high school, he joined the military. He dutifully served for 2 years each in the Marines and the Army followed by 20 years in the Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam wars; living with his family in Germany, England and home in the U.S. After being honorably discharged and retiring from the military in 1973, he worked for the United States Postal Service for 20 years. Fred enjoyed his retirement skiing, camping, gardening, wood working, and spending time with family. He especially loved his 4 legged companions; walking most mornings in the dog park with a group of wonderful friends. He is survived by his daughter, Theresa and son, Fred; his grandchildren, Monique, Jenna, Kaitlin, Riley and Haley; great granddaughter, Brooklyn; and his family's spouses and loving extended family Jane, Chris, Steven, Wilma, Dora and Jack. A memorial service will be held at Sun City Orchard Creek Lodge at 965 Orchard Creek Lane in Lincoln from 1 to 4 pm on Sunday, January 12th.
