After the war he moved to Sacramento where he opened a service station. Later he and his older brother Stan acquired a drywall business. They were partners until the early 70's. Jess became a regular employee so he could spend more time with his family. He loved to go bowling, golfing, fishing, camping, and spending time with his wife Rose Marie. Jess passed away on September 21, 2013 at the home of his son Bob with family at his side. He was preceded by his wife of 57 years Rose Marie who passed in December.
