GRAHAM, John J.
Air Force Msgt. (Retired)April 30, 1918 - Nov. 28, 2012
John was born in Oklahoma City, OK, the youngest of eight children (all deceased) born to John J. Graham and Fanny May Hayes Graham. He left home to enlist in the US Army
Air Corps at Randolph Army Air Base on January 10, 1940, a career which lasted 21 years, ending as a Tech Advisor to the Connecticut Air National Guard at Windsor Locks, CT. During that time his duties took him to many bases in the US and nearly three years on Okinawa. After retirement he started a second career with the Vessel Registration section of Harbors and Watercraft Department of the State of California. During the time between retirements, John and his wife bought five acres in the Sierras and built a five room cabin where they spent many beautiful summers for thirty years. John met the love of his life, Katherine (Goodwin) at the first USO dance held at the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium on November 8, 1941 where they were partners in the grand march. After a short courtship, mostly by mail because John was immediately sent from Mather AFB to various air bases in Southern California, they were married on October 14, 1942, a wonderful life together for more than 70 years. A daughter Priscilla (Jim) Williams and a son John (Margaret) Graham, III survive as well as five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his beloved wife, companion and best friend, Katherine. After John's retirement from the State he and his wife took their travel trailer and for 18 years traveled all over the lower 48 states, Alaska and Canada, keeping their home for infrequent trips back to regroup with another trip somewhere in mind. John was a member of Bicentennial Daylight Lodge, 830 F&AM, Scottish Rite Bodies, Ben Ali Shrine, VFW
