CHADWICK, Jr., Leonard George
Leonard was born in Guthrie, Oklahoma on January 26, 1933 and entered into rest on April 8, 2014. He and his parents moved to Denver, Colorado when he was 5 where he attended school through graduation. Throughout these years, he loved to play football. His love of the game and speed provided him scholarships as well as a life-long passion for the sport. He attended the University of Colorado where he played on their 1957 Orange Bowl team. He completed his graduate degrees at University of California, Berkeley and San Francisco State.
Leonard served in the armed forces. He was a retired counselor and special education resource specialist. He worked with middle and high school students in Oakland, Stockton, and Sacramento and was a strong advocate for education and equity. He was pleased to produce music festivals and concerts and was the first producer of the Aruba Jazz Festival (1988).
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Charlotte, as well as his son, Leonard (Sharon), daughter, Katia Fontenot (Philip), grandchildren and great grandchildren and stepbrother, Victor DeCoudreaux (Candida). Along with these family members, he had many young people whom he mentored who had a special relationship with him. He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard G. Chadwick, Jr., mother, Leoma Chadwick Wilson, stepmother, Lorraine Chadwick, son, Mark, and his stepsister, Janiss DeCoudreaux.
Leonard loved family, football, especially the Raiders, music (jazz), and travel. He had an extensive music collection along with audio books that he enjoyed listening to. He enjoyed his time with friends, especially if it included steak and conversation. Leonard was forever grateful for the many blessings in his life.
A celebration of life was held on April 17th at Herberger Family Elk Grove Funeral Chapel.

Oh my goodness, I had no idea that Leonard had passed away! My sympathies to his family! I used to be his assistant when he worked for Stockton Unified School District for about 10 years! Please accept my sympathies and I am so very sorry to hear of this!
